These markings, in addition to being resistant to the handling, etc., described in A.1.2, have also to withstand the rubbing and handling expected during the use of the equipment.
Markings on knobs, etc., shall survive the continual handling and rubbing as a result of manual actuation. Other markings should be resistant to cleaning, polishing and the like. IEC Test Equipment
